Lore

✦ lore writing in process ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝ ♡︎

Our story beings in a far off land, a beautiful maiden is on a trip to visit a foreign land. A land of vibrant colors and a rich culture that has withstood both the relentless desert winds and the passage of time. An oasis within a sea of sand, kind to those that remain within its nurturing lands and a bastion to those wandering in from the endless stretch of blistering heat and the scorching earth, for no matter how powerful or wise the person, the desert takes all, eventually. This is where we find our beloved ShyShae; lost within the spiraling winds and blinding dust as a wave of sand tumbles violently towards her.Had she only stayed with the guides she would be safe in the shopping centers of the city. Had she only ignored the faint pinkish glow of some curiosity in the distance, she would be lounging in the spas of the resort, resting upon silk sheets in the most softest of beds, drifting off to a land of dreams where she may have have awoken from this danger; relieved that it was only a dream. Had she just quashed that ravenous curiosity of her that had led her astray since she was a child, she would have escaped the impending storm. Yet, it is because of this same curiosity that, in the midst of her impending doom, she looked down at a familiar pink glow just beneath the sand.Frantically she dug and dug until she found the source of the pink glow: a set of two red, heart-shaped gems and a large golden key with a pink gemstone set in its handle. “...t..u..r.n…i..t….” Shae heard a small, gravely voice mutter in her head before a gust of wind crashed into her, her hair and clothing flapping violently against the gust as she dropped down and desperately clutched onto the gems and key. “Qui…ck….kly” the voice grumbled again before Shae jammed the key into the sand beneath her, quickly turning it and immediately falling down onto a cool and smooth stone floor. Before she can think about the sudden coolness underneath her, she is blown across the stone floor by the force of the storm’s winds, the key and stones clinking as they blew out of Shae’s grip. She quickly looks up, squinting against the pelting sand and dust and sees a curious sight; a rectangular cutout of a violent desert storm floating against a veil of darkness as if it were a living framed painting amongst a static wall. However, just as quickly as she had fallen, the cutout vanished; the howling winds silenced and the blown sand sat in piles on the stone floor in a dark hall with the only light coming from the three gems Shae had found, scattered across the floor. Quickly she had gathered the gems, using their faint glow as a light source, and slowly leaned herself back against a large stone pillar that stood in one of two rows inside of a giant hallway. Sinking to the ground as the fatigue of the day’s events had finally taken their toll, and our hero Shae, had closed her eyes and drifted off into a deep sleep. The next day saw the giant stone hallway slightly more illuminated if just barely as a soft white light from the stars in the dark sky peered their way through the large windows of the vast hallway. Shae snapped awake, quickly standing up and checking her surroundings before calming herself down and realizing that what she had experienced was indeed not a dream. She sighed as her stomach grumbled, her throat parched. She couldn’t stay in that hallway forever so she set off to explore this mysterious building, hoping to find a way home, or at the very least something to eat.She made her way towards the end of a hallway and came upon a large ornate door double her size, nestled into an equally ornate doorway carved into the stone wall. The lacquered wood felt smooth against her hand but stayed firm against her push. She pushed with both hands, then her shoulder and eventually rammed her whole body against the door: nothing. The door stood firm, and locked. Coincidentally, as Shae examined the door, she noticed a small keyhole just within her reach, and while tiny when compared to the door itself, seemed to perfectly house the mysterious key in her arms. She pressed in into the keyhole and turned and with a loud and low groan, the door slowly swung open, revealing a large and vast library with its numerous shelves each filled thoroughly with countless books.Shae slowly made her way towards one of the shelves and set her gems down as she grabbed the nearest book and began flipping through its pages. “I can’t read any of this.” Shae thought as the letters on the page looked like nothing but gibberish to her. However, the nearby gems began to radiate a familiar pink glow and the letters in the book began to glow with them, aligning and rearranging themselves until they resembled something Shae could read. “Some Light Please” Shae muttered under her breath before a flurry of orbs rushed out of the book and spread throughout the ceiling of the library, a warm, candle-like light emanating from them, illuminating the entire library with their warm light as Shae strained her eyes, adjusting to the sudden illumination. However with the new light, Shae looked at the book she had grabbed and noticed that the letters were not the only thing that had changed, as the book began to morph and wriggle as it contorted itself into numerous shapes and forms. Surprised, Shae dropped the wriggling mass to the floor and slowly backed away from it. Unfazed, the book kept writhing and slithering until it transformed from a normal leatherbound book into a black and pink grimoire: with black leather and dark metal plating adorning its covers with pink leather and gems emblazoned on its front cover. It took Shae a moment before she decided to brave picking the book back up again but when she did, she noticed that the lettering was once again illegible, but would begin glowing and rearranging themselves whenever Shae picked up the book. “...summ…on…me….ple….ease…” Shae heard a familiar voice call out to her from the book. “...I….can…..help….” she heard again. Shae shook her head as she began to close the book. She stopped however, remembering that the same voice had saved her earlier from the sandstorm. She wasn’t sure if she could trust that voice, but she was tired and hungry and thirsty and lost in an unknown building in who knows where. Shae decided to take a chance and trust this voice. “Okay, how do?” Shae asked outloud, not sure if the voice can hear her. “...Like the lights…. Just ask and say please….” it replied. “Okay” Shae breathed. “Let’s meet, please!”The book began to tremble and fell to the ground as a large spiral of dust and sparkles and light shot out from its pages. The magic whipped the books off of the shelves and whipped Shae’s hair all over as a bright gold light shone from the book. THe light began to change color as a small silhouette of pink light began to rise from the pages of the book, its head and ears large, with long arms and a longer tail attached to a short body with stubby legs. Once the silhouette had risen high above the grimoire, the pink glow shattered and small flecks of light sparkled in the air as the silhouette had been replaced with a small, soft, pink creature. The creature floated for a moment before turning midair and setting its eyes upon Shae. Its eyes were large with dark spirals for irises and it had a large jagged jaw for a mouth and a keyhole centered on its large head. Suddenly, the creature stopped floating and dropped onto the grimoire, back first with a loud thud and a small, stifled “ow.”“Finally!” the creature said suddenly, pumping its fists into the air triumphantly, still lying down on the ground before sitting up. “Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for someone to find these things?” the creature said as it picked up the two gems and key from the ground in its large, stuffed-animal like hand “Or make their way here?!” it gestured to the library behind them. “Seriously. You are magical, you know that?” the creature said as it slowly stood up, its long tail unfurling behind revealing a key shaped form at the end. “So I gotta say, from the bottom of my heart; Thank you.” it said as it closed its eyes and bowed down. “So, mysterious magic, thing, person.” the creature continued “What’s your name?”(From here, the creature introduces itself, forms a contract with Shae, and both go off to explore the castle and begin one of their many, many adventures.)
